JEWELLERY DERMATITIS (NICKEL ALLERGY)
This condition develops when a person becomes allergic to nickel and on contact with the metal, develops a red, itchy rash followed by tiny water blisters and peeling of skin.
CAUSES OF JEWELLERY DERMATITIS
It is believed that jewellery dermatitis most commonly develops whenever the damaged or broken skin is exposed to nickel allowing the metal to easily pass into the deeper layers of skin. Thus in women it starts most commonly during ear piercing, in which studs containing nickel are used.
